FORMAT OF THE WINE COMPETITION FOR VINTAGE 2016

The competition will take place on 27-28.01.2017 at Splendid Restaurant, city. Ruse in two stages – a closed tasting and awarding.

The wines will be divided into the following categories:
- 2016 Wine of the Year
- White varietal wine
- Red varietal wine
- White wine blend
- Red wine blend
- Rose
- White blended wine with direct varieties (dessert, wild and other grape varieties)
- Red blended wine made with direct varieties (dessert, wild and other grape varieties)
Sample collection
Dionis-Elena Ltd. retains part of the format of last year's competition edition – the cost of participation with one sample of two 750 ml bottles of wine is BGN 20 including VAT.
The samples must be prepared in a 750 ml bottle with a working label in the following format: names/phone/grape varieties or you can get labels when you submit the sample.

The samples will be collected from January 9, 2017 to January 24, 2017 at the office of Dionis-Elena Ltd., Ruse, 137 Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd, phone +359 82 876 068. Samples sent by courier by January 24, 2017 (date of the waybill) will be processed and included in the competition.
Closed Tasting
On 27.01.2017 until the completion of the samples (including breaks and lunch), a closed, anonymous tasting will be held by a three-member committee using the 100-point system. The committee consists of technologists with extensive experience in the industry and wine tasting. The samples will be tasted in a predetermined order according to the tasting requirements for the type of wine (white, rosé, red, dry, semi-dry, dessert) and the variety (non-aromatic varieties, aromatic varieties, blends). The tasting will be completely anonymous – the samples will be prepared by the Dionysus-Elena Ltd. team with a code and opaque packaging. A trained waiter will serve the wines to the committee. If necessary, the wines will be tasted again or several times simultaneously, as deemed necessary by the committee.
The identity of the jury will be announced and presented on 28.01.2017 at the award ceremony for the second annual wine competition in Ruse.

2. Caprese salad 350 g
/ Peeled tomatoes with mozzarella and crisp lettuce, topped with homemade pesto /
3. Pork shank 500 g
Slow-roasted, served with potatoes and topped with gravy sauce.

Due to the lack of sufficient points, no first prize was awarded in this category.

Third prize - Savcho Angelov for Merlot with 77 points, awarded with a diploma provided by Dionis-Elena Ltd., Ruse.
Second prize - Rosen Dekov for Cabernet with 79 points, awarded with a diploma provided by Dionis-Elena Ltd., Ruse.
First prize - Evgeni Tabiashki for Merlot with 80 points, awarded with Oak Barrel, provided by Vankov 2004 EOOD, Varna.
